About the job Mainframe Network Engineer (Remote)
Job description
Support mainframe network communications environment including SNA, VTAM, TCP/IP, FTP, zOS Communication Server Components, Printing Services, and TN3270 Session Manager in 3-site, Parallel Sysplex environment.
Responsibilities
· Day-to-day/project support of SNA/VTAM and TCP/IP configuration
· Administration of TN3270 configuration, including 3rd party tools
o (MacKinney VTAM/Switch, CA-TPX)
· Administration of 3rd party printing suite (MacKinney JesQ, Vtam For Printers) for clients and vendors, including use of transformers
· Administration of IBM Connect:Direct configuration/netmap
· AT-TLS / Policy agent / TLS certificate administration
· Configuration and use of Netview as tool to manage mainframe network
· Develop, document and implement network standards, policies, procedures and security practices in accordance with business policies
· Participate in routine BCP / DR exercises
· Work with z/OS Software, Hardware, Middleware, and development teams
· Weekend work, off hours support and on-call rotation as needed
Qualifications
· Related experience: 10+ years managing mainframe network environments
· Experience with IBM Communication Server product suite, including VTAM and TCP/IP internals, SNA formats and protocols (APPN, Cross-Domain Resources,). Implementation, configuration and support of mainframe TCP/IP and supporting services (SNTP, FTP, OMPROUTE, SNMP, etc)
Additional Experience and Skills
· Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve system and network related problems
· Understanding and support of enterprise encryption applications and processes.
· Interpersonal skills, communications skills, and ability to lead and influence others are essential
· Ability to collaborate and work closely with others in a team environment
