The Box Office Agent is responsible for selling tickets, assisting patrons with inquiries, processing transactions, and providing excellent service before, during, and after events. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sell tickets in person, online, and over the phone using the venues ticketing system.

  • Provide accurate event information, including show times, seating options, pricing, and venue policies.

  • Assist customers with ticket exchanges, refunds, and special accommodations (e.g., ADA seating).

  • Handle cash, credit card, and electronic payments securely and efficiently.

  • Resolve customer issues and escalate complex problems to the Box Office Manager as needed.

  • Maintain an organized and professional box office area.

  • Prepare will-call tickets, guest lists, and event entry materials before each performance or event.

  • Balance and reconcile cash drawers and ticket sales at the end of each shift.

  • Follow venue procedures for ticket scanning and patron entry during events.

  • Support crowd control and customer flow before and after performances.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, or box office work preferred.

  • Familiarity with ticketing software such as Ticketmaster, Tessitura, or similar systems is a plus.

  • Strong verbal communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Comfortable handling cash and managing transactions accurately.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Positive attitude and ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
