Summary

The Head of Product Development is responsible for leading the design, development, enhancement, and lifecycle management of banking products and services. This role ensures that the product offerings remain competitive, customer-centric, compliant with regulatory standards, and aligned with business strategy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive product development strategy in line with the overall business objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the design and launch of new banking products & drive innovation and differentiation in product offerings to improve market share, customer acquisition, and profitability.
  • Oversee end-to-end management of all banking products from ideation, feasibility studies, and business case development to rollout and post-launch analysis.
  • Monitor product performance and profitability; refine or sunset underperforming products in a structured manner.
  • Ensure timely updates and improvements to existing products in response to customer feedback, market trends, and regulatory changes.
  • Lead market research, customer insights analysis, and competitor benchmarking to inform product design and positioning.
  • Ensure all products are developed with a clear value proposition and address identified customer pain points.
  • Ensure all product development activities comply with local regulatory requirements (e.g., SBP guidelines) and internal risk frameworks.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and risk teams to proactively identify and mitigate product-related risks.
  • Collaborate with IT and digital banking teams to design products that are tech-enabled and digitally scalable.
  • Lead the development of digital banking solutions (e.g., mobile apps, internet banking features, API-based products, fintech integrations).
  • Foster agility in product delivery using modern development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Design Thinking, DevOps, etc.).
  • Build and lead a high-performing product development team; mentor, coach, and upskill talent as needed.
  • Engage internal stakeholders including Marketing, Sales, Operations, Finance, and Customer Experience to ensure alignment and readiness across all product initiatives.
  • Define key product KPIs and track performance metrics including profitability, uptake, NPS, and customer retention.
  • Present regular updates and strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Any other task assigned by line manager.
