Building Maintenance Assistant

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Building Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep, repair, and daily maintenance of our facilities. The ideal candidate will assist the maintenance team in ensuring that building systems, equipment, and common areas remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. This role is perfect for someone with strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to building operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical).

• Perform basic repairs such as painting, carpentry, lighting, and minor plumbing tasks.

• Support preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and service calls from staff or tenants.

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in mechanical rooms, work areas, and common facilities.

• Assist in coordinating with contractors and vendors for specialized repair work.

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes.

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory supplies.

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in building maintenance preferred.

• Prior experience as a Maintenance Assistant, Building Technician, or Facilities Helper is an advantage.

• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.

• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

• Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and perform manual labor.

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if required.
