Field Safety Coordinator Civil Construction
Location: Kamloops, BC (Head Office) with travel to sites across BC

Infracon is a full-service civil construction and industrial services group with job sites across Western Canada. We are currently seeking a professional and experienced Field Safety Coordinator to support our field personnel by ensuring compliance with our Health & Safety Program and WorkSafeBC (WSBC) Regulations.

This role is vital in upholding our safety culture through regular site visits, inspections, and documentation oversight. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring that both our employees and subcontractors are working safely and in accordance with our standards.

Position Details:

  • Type: Full-time, hourly
  • Location: Office-based in Kamloops, with frequent travel to job sites across BC
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday; occasional overtime or weekend work may be required
  • Reports to: Health & Safety Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the company, clients, and stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner
  • Provide on-site support for field personnel, including SiteDocs assistance, training facilitation, and distribution of required/approved PPE
  • Communicate safety concerns to the Health & Safety Manager promptly to determine the appropriate course of action
  • Maintain organized and accurate safety documentation, training records, and orientations
  • Ensure sites have required PPE and verify effective usage
  • Conduct thorough site inspections to ensure compliance with WSBC regulations and company safety policies
  • Observe fieldwork to provide feedback on SWPs, SJPs, and general safety compliance
  • Issue corrective actions professionally and constructively
  • Perform daily audits of safety documentation including FLHAs, pre-trip inspections, and more
  • Promote and implement HSE policies and procedures through coaching and regular engagement with site teams
  • Assist in the development and review of Safe Work Practices (SWPs), Safe Job Procedures (SJPs), and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
  • Administer client and company-specific training through third-party platforms (e.g., Danatec, ISN, ComplyWorks)
  • Conduct respirator fit testing as required
  • Upload and manage worker certifications and safety records
  • Participate in Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee meetings, including agenda development
  • Organize site-specific orientations and training in collaboration with the Health & Safety Manager
  • Assist with incident investigations and documentation
  • Submit Remote Work Reports for unsupervised work activities
  • Perform other duties as needed to support company operations

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean driving record
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant safety experience in the construction industry
  • Recognized safety designation (e.g., CSO, NCSO) is an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Experience working in diverse and multicultural environments is an asset
  • Able to work independently with excellent time management skills
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail in a dynamic environment
  • Proven leadership in promoting safety culture
  • Experience with digital safety platforms (e.g., SiteDocs, ISN, ComplyWorks, Avetta, Samsara)
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and communicate effectively
  • Self-motivated with problem-solving skills and decision-making capability
  • Sound judgment on when to seek guidance
  • Trustworthy in handling confidential financial and personal information
  • Able to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to learn and uphold Infracon's processes and protocols
  • Adherence to chain of command and team-based values

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

This role involves both office and field work, including:

  • Equipment and supply delivery
  • Extended periods of driving
  • Standing, walking, bending, twisting, and kneeling
