Senior/Lead AI Developer Productivity Engineer (Tech Lead / Architect)

About the Role

The company is building a new, dedicated AI Product Engineering team based in Mexico, and this role represents a founding leadership opportunity. We are looking for two Tech Leads / Architects, each leading a squad of 4 AI Product Engineers. Together, both Tech Leads will form the core technical leadership of an initial ~10-person team, with a clear roadmap to scale to ~20 as the team demonstrates impact.

You will work closely with a US-based Senior Product Manager, who will guide day-to-day priorities and product direction, while reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer. In partnership with your peer Tech Lead, you will act as a co-leader — dividing application domains, aligning on architectural standards, and ensuring consistency across both squads.

This is a highly hands-on role. You will actively code, design system architecture, and lead the implementation and adoption of AI-powered development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude Code) within your team. You will also build custom AI agents tailored to the company's codebase, define best practices, and drive internal enablement to improve developer productivity and product focus across the team.

As a founding technical leader, you will help shape the team's culture, hiring strategy, and engineering standards from day one, establishing the foundation for a high-performing, Mexico-based engineering organization that delivers scalable applications for both internal and external users.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-On Architecture & Development

• Design and deliver production-ready applications using ASP.NET Core (.NET 8+/10), React 18+ (TypeScript), and Azure (App Service, Functions, Azure SQL, Key Vault, CI/CD)
• Define scalable and secure architectures for both internal tools and external-facing applications
• Integrate LLM capabilities (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI) into real-world applications, including prompt design, agent-based workflows, RAG pipelines, and streaming interfaces
• Make key technical decisions around architecture, tools, and implementation, prioritizing speed and practical outcomes

AI Developer Productivity & Enablement

• Implement and govern AI-powered coding tools across both squads
• Develop custom AI agents and workflows aligned with the company's codebase to automate development tasks (code generation, testing, reviews, refactoring, documentation)
• Measure and optimize impact through productivity metrics, experiments, and A/B testing
• Identify bottlenecks across the development lifecycle and design solutions to eliminate inefficiencies
• Build enablement programs such as playbooks, prompt libraries, and best-practice guides to standardize AI-driven development

Team Leadership & Culture

• Act as one of the founding technical leaders, partnering with leadership to hire and scale the engineering team in Mexico
• Lead and mentor a team of 4 AI Product Engineers, fostering ownership, fast iteration, and strong product thinking
• Collaborate closely with the other Tech Lead to maintain alignment in architecture, coding standards, and engineering practices
• Conduct in-depth code reviews, mentor engineers, and support technical decision-making
• Manage agile processes including stand-ups, sprint planning, and backlog prioritization
• Promote an AI-first engineering culture, encouraging rapid experimentation and delivery
• Identify and develop future leaders as the team grows

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work effectively with US-based stakeholders across different time zones
• Translate product priorities into clear technical execution plans
• Align with the peer Tech Lead to ensure consistency and avoid duplication
• Provide regular updates, technical insights, and risk assessments to leadership
• Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and business-oriented way

Strategy & Governance

• Partner with leadership to identify high-impact opportunities across operations, customer experience, and supply chain
• Evaluate new AI tools and frameworks, recommending adoption based on measurable value
• Ensure all AI implementations follow company policies, including data security and responsible AI practices

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in full-stack software development, with progression into technical leadership
• Strong expertise in .NET / C# (ASP.NET Core) and React (TypeScript) with hands-on delivery experience
• Proven experience integrating LLMs into production systems (Claude, OpenAI, or similar), including prompt engineering, RAG, and agent-based patterns
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and a clear perspective on how to scale their use across teams
• Solid experience with Azure (deployments, CI/CD, monitoring, Key Vault)
• Experience leading or mentoring small engineering teams
• Strong product mindset with focus on outcomes and prioritization
• Advanced English communication skills (written and verbal)
• Experience with SQL, Git, and Agile methodologies
• Ability to work autonomously in a remote, cross-border environment
• Based in Mexico with availability during US business hours
