Job Description:

Are you a Data Analyst who can see the commercial story behind the numbers?

Our client, a growing business in the iGaming and Sports Betting industry, is looking for a sharp, curious, and commercially minded Data Analyst to join their expanding business intelligence and digital operations team in Cape Town.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, spotting trends, improving reporting, and helping leadership teams make better business decisions. As the business continues to scale, this role will play an important part in strengthening the company's analytics, reporting, and BI capability.

What you'll be doing

As the Data Analyst, you will transform data into meaningful insights that support strategic decision-making, operational efficiency, customer performance analysis, and business growth.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Collecting, interpreting, and analysing large datasets to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and business opportunities
  • Developing actionable insights that support strategic and operational decision-making across the business
  • Analysing business performance, customer behaviour, commercial activity, operational metrics, and digital performance
  • Identifying performance gaps, risks, and optimisation opportunities through detailed data analysis
  • Supporting stakeholders with ad hoc reporting, analysis, and business performance reviews
  • Translating complex data into clear, practical, and commercially relevant recommendations
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining reports and dashboards for key business stakeholders
  • Monitoring and reporting on KPIs, operational metrics, customer trends, financial performance, and commercial activity
  • Creating automated reporting solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual reporting processes
  • Ensuring reporting accuracy, consistency, and data integrity across all outputs
  • Validating and reconciling data to ensure reliability and consistency across systems
  • Identifying data quality issues and recommending improvements to data collection, management, and reporting processes
  • Working with technical teams to improve data accessibility, structure, reporting flows, and BI capability
  • Supporting the implementation and optimisation of BI, reporting, and data visualisation platforms
  • Assisting with the integration of data from multiple sources to improve business visibility
  • Collaborating with commercial, operations, finance, marketing, product, technical, and leadership teams
  • Presenting analytical findings in a clear, concise, and commercially useful way
  • Contributing to a stronger culture of data-driven decision-making across the organisation

What you'll need

The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical ability, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to turn data into insight that helps the business move smarter and faster.

Requirements include:

  • Previous experience as a Data Analyst, Reporting Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, or in a similar analytical role
  • Strong understanding of data analysis, reporting methodologies, and BI principles
  • Experience working with reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, Google Analytics, or similar platforms
  • Strong Excel and SQL skills for data extraction, manipulation, analysis, and reporting
  • Experience working with large datasets and multiple data sources
  • Exposure to databases, data structures, and reporting environments
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy
  • Ability to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and actionable insights from data
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of business performance drivers
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to explain complex data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and business functions
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • A self-motivated approach with a willingness to learn, improve, and grow within the analytics field
  • A relevant qualification in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Economics, or a related field would be advantageous
  • Relevant BI, analytics, or data certifications would be beneficial, but are not essential

Who this role is perfect for

This role is ideal for someone who is technically capable, commercially aware, and genuinely interested in how data can shape business performance.

You might already be working in analytics, BI, reporting, digital operations, commercial analysis, finance analytics, or performance reporting. What matters most is that you can work confidently with data, ask the right questions, and turn numbers into insights that stakeholders can actually use.

Experience in iGaming, sports betting, online gaming, eCommerce, fintech, digital products, or another fast-paced data-rich environment would be highly advantageous.

Why this opportunity stands out

This is not a role where you simply pull reports and disappear into spreadsheets.

You will be joining a growing business where data is becoming increasingly central to decision-making. You will work across multiple departments, influence performance conversations, improve reporting processes, and contribute to the long-term development of the company's BI and analytics function.

For a Data Analyst looking to build a career in the iGaming and Sports Betting industry, this is a smart, strategic move.
