Assistant General Manager (Commercial)

We are looking for a commercially driven Commercial Manager (Marine Services) for a well-established marine product & services company. The AGM (Commercial) will lead the company's engine sales and ship spares business. This role will focus on revenue growth, customer relationships, and commercial strategy. The successful candidate must have proven track record as Ex-regional Sales Manager in Marine engines, gensets, ship spares in the marine distributor environment.

Key Responsibilities

Engine Sales & Business Development

  • Lead the engine sales function, supporting customers with technical-commercial solutions
  • Develop and grow sales pipeline for marine engines, generators, and related equipment
  • Engage key customers including shipowners, ship managers, and yards

Ship Spares Sales & Operations

  • Oversee end-to-end ship spares business, including quotations, order fulfilment, and customer response
  • Ensure fast turnaround for RFQs and urgent enquiries
  • Improve processes for efficiency, accuracy, and service level

Customer & Supplier Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts
  • Handle commercial negotiations, quotations, and contract discussions
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business
  • Work closely with principals (engine makers) to align on pricing, strategy, and sales targets
  • Ensure compliance with principal expectations as a distributor

Pricing, Margin & Performance Management

  • Manage pricing strategy, margins, and profitability across engines and spares
  • Monitor sales performance and identify growth opportunities
  • Drive revenue growth while maintaining cost discipline

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with technical/service team to ensure smooth project execution and after-sales support
  • Align sales commitments with operational capabilities

Profit & Loss Accountability

  • Accountable for achieving budgeted sales targets and profit margins on a monthly, quarterly & annual basis
  • Monitor and report on financial performance including revenue, margins, inventory turnover, and working capital efficiency
  • Manage gross margins, pricing discipline, and cost controls to ensure profitability targets are met
  • Drive top-line growth through proactive sales strategy, pipeline management, and customer acquisition
  • Own the commercial P&L for the Marine Services division, including engines and ship spares revenue streams



Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering, Business, or related field
  • Strong experience in marine engine sales, spares, or equipment distribution
  • Proven track record in sales, business development, or commercial management
  • Strong understanding of aftermarket/spare parts business
  • Good stakeholder management and negotiation skills
