About the job Accountant

We are looking for an Accountant for one of our global shipping clients in Singapore. The role will handle full-set accounting, financial reporting and consolidation, tax compliance and audit coordination, while supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis to guide business decisions. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of audit experience in a public accounting firm, followed by relevant commercial accounting experience, preferably within shipping or a related industry, with strong financial reporting, analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual unconsolidated and consolidated financial statements (e.g., balance sheets, income statements)
  • Monitor and analyze financial data, including revenues, liabilities, and expenditures
  • Forecast costs and revenues to support budgeting and investment decisions
  • Manage tax payments and ensure compliance with tax regulations
  • Conduct internal audits and ensure adherence to financial policies
  • Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management
  • Assist in developing financial policies and procedures
  • Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes
  • Assist in statutory audit process and resolving audit matters
  • Ad-hoc duties as assigned including but not limited to business partnering duties.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of audit experience in a public accounting firm, followed by relevant commercial accounting experience, preferably within shipping, logistics, maritime, transportation, or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, month-end closing, statutory compliance, GST, and audit coordination.
  • Hands-on experience in full-set accounting, accounts reconciliation, management reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Exposure to cash flow monitoring, treasury operations, and banking transactions will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Possess strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Prior experience in a regional or multinational environment would be advantageous.
  • Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional qualifications (e.g., CA Singapore, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
