About the job Head of IT - Retail
Skillsource are seeking an experienced Head of IT to lead the technology function for the retail division of a large-scale organisation undergoing a significant digital transformation. This role will oversee multiple high-impact workstreams, including ERP implementation, EPOS upgrades, and O365 tenant consolidation, while ensuring the delivery of efficient, secure, and scalable IT services.
The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with a proven track record in IT service management, vendor oversight, and delivering technology solutions in complex, cross-functional environments.
Key Responsibilities

Act as IT lead for a major digital transformation programme covering ERP, EPOS, and O365 tenant consolidation

Develop, implement, and manage ITIL-aligned service management processes

Oversee vendor relationships to ensure optimal performance and value delivery

Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement of systems, processes, and service levels

Deliver training and technical support to staff, enhancing user adoption and troubleshooting issues

Manage incident response, ensuring timely and effective resolution

Collaborate with wider technology teams to shape and deliver divisional and organisational IT strategy

Liaise with architects to create digital solutions aligned with business goals

Define and track KPIs for operations, infrastructure, projects, and service delivery

Manage IT budgets and ensure alignment with strategic and operational priorities

Oversee end-to-end delivery of IT projects on time and within budget
Key Skills and Competencies

Strong technical understanding across ERP, EPOS, infrastructure, security, architecture, and application performance

Proven leadership skills with experience motivating and directing cross-functional teams

Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Strong communication skills for engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders

Effective stakeholder and vendor management experience

Knowledge of ITIL best practice, particularly in service design, transition, and continual service improvement

Experience delivering IT solutions within complex project/programme environments
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
-
Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, or related discipline

7+ years experience in IT leadership or similar roles

Proven track record in ERP and EPOS systems delivery

In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, security, and architecture

Demonstrated ability to manage IT budgets, projects, and vendor relationships

Experience within ITIL-aligned frameworks
Desirable

ITIL Foundation Certification or higher

Experience in programme/project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile)

Previous work within retail, pharmaceutical, logistics, or similar industries
