WE ARE HIRING : Senior Accounts Payable Accountant

Location: Sri Lanka

Job Purpose

We are seeking a forward-thinking Senior Accounts Payable Accountant with a strong digital mindset to enhance efficiency and ensure accurate, timely supplier payments. This role contributes to financial accuracy, supports audits, and strengthens supplier relations through clear communication and excellence in payables operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee end-to-end accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, approvals, and payments.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing, including accruals and reconciliations.
• Prepare payables reports, analyze aging, and provide insights for decision-making.
• Perform reconciliation of supplier and related-party statements, promptly resolving discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory standards, and correct VAT accounting.
• Prepare electronic payments and manage schedules aligned with cash flow.
• Support external audits by providing documentation and maintaining accurate records.
• Contribute to process improvements, automation initiatives, and ERP/payables system enhancements.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; professional certification (ACCA, CPA, CMA, CTP) preferred or in progress.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in audit or international business environments.
• Proficiency in financial reporting, reconciliations, and auditing.
• Strong command of ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and accounting software.
• Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages an advantage.
• Familiarity with shipping, maritime, oil & gas, or transportation industries is a plus.
