Role Overview
The Procurement & Material Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing production plans and material requirements to ensure seamless manufacturing operations. This role works closely with procurement, production, warehousing, and quality teams to balance demand and supply, optimize inventory levels, and support on-time delivery of finished goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Introduce and manage SIOP process to ensure inventory availability as per sales requirements.
- Create and manage Material Requirements Plans (MRP) to ensure timely and accurate procurement of raw materials and components.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels by monitoring safety stock, reorder points, and lead times.
- Support Procurement Manager in managing supplier relationships, negotiations, and order management.
- Issue POs and coordinate with suppliers to resolve supply issues, delivery delays, or material shortages.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and reconcile differences with warehouse teams.
- Identify obsolete or slow-moving materials and recommend corrective action.
- Maintain accurate data within ERP/MRP systems, including BOMs, production orders, and inventory records.
- Monitor production progress daily and adjust schedules to address delays, equipment downtime, or changes in priority.
- Prepare weekly/monthly reports on production status, material availability, and inventory KPIs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in procurement, material planning, or supply chain roles in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, capacity planning, and inventory management principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
