Role Overview

We are seeking a strategic, hands on, and experienced Chief Technical Officer to lead technology strategy, engineering operations, software architecture, infrastructure management, cybersecurity governance, and technical delivery within the education sector.

The selected candidate will be responsible for building scalable technology capabilities, improving software quality, managing technical risk, leading multidisciplinary technology teams, and ensuring all platforms and systems are secure, reliable, commercially viable, and aligned with business objectives. This is a senior leadership role that requires strong executive presence, deep technical expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to drive innovation across the organization's technology portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy and Leadership

• Define and execute the organization's technology strategy in line with business goals.
• Lead architecture governance across products, platforms, and technology systems.
  
• Ensure all technology solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and future ready.
• Drive adoption of modern engineering standards, best practices, and quality frameworks.
  
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify innovation opportunities that support business growth.

Engineering and Technical Delivery

• Oversee software development lifecycle governance across technology teams.
• Ensure Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies are implemented effectively.
  
• Manage software quality assurance, release management, and technical documentation standards.
• Drive platform reliability, uptime, service performance, and continuous improvement.
  
• Ensure technical teams deliver high quality solutions within agreed timelines and business priorities.

Infrastructure, Cloud and Platform Management

• Oversee cloud architecture, infrastructure management, and platform scalability.
• Lead infrastructure modernization and automation initiatives.
  
• Ensure high availability, redundancy, disaster recovery, and business continuity readiness.
• Manage cloud cost optimization and scalability planning.
  
• Build strong relationships with cloud, infrastructure, and technology vendors.

Cybersecurity, Risk and Compliance

• Lead cybersecurity governance and technology risk management activities.
• Ensure secure coding practices and infrastructure security standards are embedded across teams.
  
• Support compliance with applicable frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, data protection requirements, and other relevant standards.
• Oversee disaster recovery planning, incident response readiness, and security audit outcomes.
  
• Ensure technology operations meet regulatory, client, and institutional governance requirements.

Financial and Commercial Management

• Manage technology budgets, resource planning, and cost control.
• Support technical proposals, commercial bids, and solution planning when required.
• Ensure technical delivery operates within approved cost models and business priorities.
• Contribute to pricing, profitability, and resource allocation assessments for technology services.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Master's degree in Technology Management, Business Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage.
  
• Minimum 10 years of experience in senior technology leadership roles.
• Strong experience managing offshore, distributed, or multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  
• Strong background in SaaS, enterprise software, education technology, managed services, or platform based environments.
• Experience leading cloud native and scalable platform architectures.
  
• Proven experience in cybersecurity governance, compliance, and technical risk management.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, API integration, data architecture, analytics, automation, and disaster recovery planning.
  
• Experience with ERP implementation, enterprise platforms, 
• regulated platforms, or international delivery models will be an added advantage.
• Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Architect, TOGAF, CISSP, ITIL, PMP, or Prince2 Agile will be preferred.
• Strong executive communication, stakeholder engagement, and commercial acumen.
  
• Strong organizational, leadership, decision making, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in fast paced environments while maintaining governance, quality, and security standards.
  
• Results oriented, ethical, trustworthy, collaborative, adaptable, and strategic while remaining hands on when required.
