Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and performance-driven Senior Group Manager to lead large-scale shipping and logistics operations, manage diverse teams, and ensure service delivery excellence across import, export, documentation, container shipping, and 3PL-related processes.

The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing operational performance, managing SLAs and turnaround times, driving team productivity, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting process improvements through ERP systems, dashboards, and performance analytics.

Key Responsibilities

Shipping & Logistics Operations Management

• Oversee end-to-end shipping and logistics operations, including RFA activities, BL processing, bookings, import and export documentation, container shipping, and 3PL coordination.
• Ensure all operational activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and within agreed timelines.
• Monitor process quality and ensure adherence to customer and operational requirements.
• Identify operational gaps and implement corrective actions to improve service delivery.

Team Leadership & Performance Management

• Lead and manage a large team of diverse individuals across shipping and logistics processes.
• Drive team performance by setting clear targets, monitoring productivity, and ensuring accountability.
• Support team development through coaching, guidance, and regular performance feedback.
• Maintain a professional, disciplined, and performance-focused work environment.

SLA, TAT & Process Control

• Manage SLAs, turnaround times, task completion targets, and operational deliverables.
• Track daily, weekly, and monthly performance against agreed service levels.
• Ensure timely escalation and resolution of operational delays or service issues.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve process efficiency and output quality.

ERP Systems, Reporting & Analytics

• Work hands-on with ERP systems such as Gensoft, ASYCUDA, CargoWise, or similar platforms.
• Prepare monthly reports, dashboards, and operational performance updates.
• Use data and reporting tools to monitor performance, identify trends, and support management decisions.
• Exposure to Power BI dashboards and reporting will be an added advantage.

Stakeholder Communication & Coordination

• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operational delivery.
• Communicate clearly and professionally in English, both written and verbal.
• Support cross-functional collaboration to resolve operational issues and improve workflow efficiency.
• Ensure management is updated with accurate and timely operational information.

Candidate Profile

• Graduate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or any other relevant education stream.
• Minimum 12–15 years of experience in shipping and logistics operations.
• Strong experience in RFA activities, BL processing, bookings, import/export documentation, container shipping, and 3PL operations.
• Prior experience managing large teams with diverse individuals.
• Strong exposure to managing SLAs, turnaround times, task targets, team performance, and monthly reporting.
• Hands-on experience working with ERP systems such as Gensoft, ASYCUDA, CargoWise, or similar platforms.
• Exposure to dashboards, operational reporting, and Power BI will be an added advantage.
• Clear communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Strong leadership, planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work from office Monday to Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
• Candidates residing in or around Colombo will be preferred.
