Role Overview

We are seeking a strategic and results driven Head of Sales & Commercial to lead country sales operations, drive commercial growth, manage field sales teams, and strengthen customer engagement within the logistics and supply chain industry.

The selected candidate will be responsible for leading sales planning, opportunity management, revenue growth, team performance, customer retention, and commercial process implementation. This role requires strong leadership experience, deep logistics market knowledge, and the ability to build a high performing sales culture across branch, regional, and country level teams.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and manage the country field sales function.
  • Build a strong, capable, and performance driven sales team across branches and regions.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to sales managers and field sales teams.
  • Maintain a positive team spirit and professional working environment within the department.
  • Foster strong collaboration with Operations, Customer Service, HR, Finance, and other internal teams.

Sales Strategy and Growth Management

  • Develop and execute sales plans to achieve branch, regional, and country growth targets.
  • Meet and exceed budgeted gross profit and volume targets.
  • Drive new business generation and ensure consistent revenue growth.
  • Ensure volume growth from field sales teams compared to previous year performance.
  • Monitor market opportunities and support strong opportunity conversion.

Performance, Budget and Target Management

  • Ensure sales teams achieve assigned gross profit and volume budgets.
  • Review sales performance regularly and take corrective action where required.
  • Track sales productivity, pipeline movement, customer activity, and target achievement.
  • Ensure effective sales review processes are followed across the team.
  • Support management with accurate sales updates, forecasts, and commercial insights.

Customer Engagement and Opportunity Management

  • Strengthen customer engagement and maintain long term business relationships.
  • Ensure customer needs are understood and addressed with suitable logistics solutions.
  • Support opportunity management from lead identification to deal closure.
  • Build strong relationships with key customers and support retention initiatives.
  • Ensure customer service allocation and operational coordination are handled effectively.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 12 to 15 years of experience in sales, commercial management, logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain related business.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership or management experience is preferred.

  • Strong experience in leading sales teams at branch, regional, or country level.
  • Proven track record in achieving sales targets, gross profit targets, volume growth, and new business generation.
  • Strong understanding of logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, and customer service operations.
  • Excellent customer engagement, sales planning, and opportunity management skills.
  • Strong leadership, people management, coaching, and performance management capability.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to drive revenue growth and collections.
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams and maintain strong internal relationships.
  • Strategic mindset with strong accountability, business focus, and decision making ability.
