Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic, target-driven, and people-focused Manager – Retail Channel Operations to lead retail sales operations, drive market share growth, improve store performance, and ensure achievement of sales, turnover, profitability, and operational targets.
The selected candidate will be responsible for developing retail sales strategies, monitoring daily sales performance, leading retail teams, improving store operations, managing inventory, strengthening customer relationships, and providing key insights to senior management for business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement retail channel sales strategies to achieve business growth.
- Ensure full achievement of sales, turnover, profitability, and operational targets.
- Drive market share growth across the retail channel.
- Provide daily sales updates and key performance insights to senior management.
- Monitor retail sales performance, key metrics, and operational progress.
- Identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions to improve results.
- Lead, motivate, and guide the retail sales team to achieve agreed objectives.
- Promote teamwork, enthusiasm, loyalty, accountability, and company values across the retail team.
- Recruit, train, coach, and manage retail sales staff to improve performance and operational efficiency.
- Set performance expectations and hold team members accountable for results.
- Conduct regular and unplanned field visits to retail locations.
- Assess market conditions, customer feedback, competitor activity, and staff performance during field visits.
- Monitor store operations and ensure adherence to approved retail operating standards.
- Ensure visual merchandising standards are maintained across retail locations.
- Drive customer service excellence and maintain a strong customer-focused culture.
- Oversee inventory levels and ensure optimal stock availability across retail stores.
- Manage stock turnover and reduce excess inventory.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure product availability and smooth retail operations.
- Develop and implement customer relationship strategies to improve customer loyalty.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer experience and repeat purchases.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives within retail operations.
- Manage resources efficiently without compromising service quality or customer experience.
- Prepare retail performance reports, field visit reports, inventory updates, and management summaries.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across retail sales, store operations, inventory, and customer service.
- Perform any other retail channel management duties assigned by management.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree or professional qualification in Sales, Marketing, Business Management, Retail Management, or a related field will be preferred.
- Proven experience in retail sales, retail operations, channel management, trade sales, or a similar leadership role.
- Strong experience managing retail sales teams and store-level performance.
- Proven ability to achieve sales targets, turnover goals, profitability targets, and operational KPIs.
- Good understanding of retail channel operations, visual merchandising, customer service, and field sales management.
- Experience in inventory management, stock monitoring, stock turnover, and store operations.
- Strong leadership, coaching, team development, and people-management skills.
- Ability to motivate retail teams and build a high-performance culture.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales performance and operational data.
- Good reporting skills with the ability to provide clear updates to senior management.
- Strong customer relationship management and service improvement skills.
- Ability to conduct field visits and identify practical improvement opportunities.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to take corrective action quickly.
- Good communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Commercially aware, target-oriented, disciplined, and accountable.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple retail priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, will be an advantage.
- Experience using CRM, ERP, POS, or retail management systems will be an advantage.
