Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager – Sales to lead sales growth, business development, client relationship management, and commercial operations within the freight forwarding and logistics sector.
The selected candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, achieving sales targets, expanding market share, managing client and carrier relationships, and leading a high-performing sales team. This role requires strong experience in freight forwarding, logistics sales, multi-modal shipments, supplier coordination, and strategic business development.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Growth & Business Development
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and grow market share.
- Identify new business opportunities within freight forwarding, logistics, customs brokerage, and warehousing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Drive business growth through effective customer acquisition and retention strategies.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to identify growth opportunities.
Freight Forwarding & Logistics Operations Support
- Support sales and operational coordination for multi-modal shipments.
- Work closely with operations teams to ensure smooth service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to resolve shipment or service-related concerns.
- Ensure customer requirements are clearly communicated and delivered according to agreed standards.
Client & Carrier Relationship Management
- Maintain strong relationships with key clients, shipping lines, carriers, and logistics partners.
- Negotiate commercial terms and support pricing strategies to improve profitability.
- Ensure high service levels and long-term customer satisfaction.
- Act as a senior point of contact for major clients and strategic business partners.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead, guide, and motivate the sales team to achieve business targets.
- Monitor team performance and provide coaching, direction, and support.
- Build a target-driven and customer-focused sales culture.
- Ensure sales activities, reports, and follow-ups are completed accurately and on time.
Reporting & Strategic Planning
- Prepare sales forecasts, performance reports, and market updates for management review.
- Monitor sales pipelines and ensure strong follow-up on potential business opportunities.
- Support budgeting, planning, and commercial decision-making.
- Recommend strategies to improve sales performance, profitability, and market positioning.
Candidate Profile
- Degree or professional qualification in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics sales, or a similar commercial role.
- Strong knowledge of freight forwarding, logistics, customs brokerage, warehousing, and multi-modal shipments.
- Proven track record in achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong client, carrier, and supplier relationships.
- Good understanding of pricing, commercial proposals, and logistics operations.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong planning, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Target-driven, proactive, and able to work under pressure.
- Ability to lead a team and manage multiple business priorities effectively.
