Role Overview

• We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Product Technologist to support product development by ensuring garment quality, fit, functionality, and cost efficiency. This role involves working closely with design, merchandising, and production teams to translate concepts into high-quality finished products while optimizing materials and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of garment construction, fabric selection, and product development processes, along with the ability to manage samples, patterns, and technical specifications effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and analyze design specifications, sketches, and concept briefs to ensure a clear understanding of product requirements. Determine appropriate garment construction techniques based on design, functionality, and production feasibility. Collaborate with designers and technical teams to finalize construction details and resolve technical challenges. Assess fabric, trim, and accessory requirements and ensure alignment with quality and design standards. Develop garment patterns using CAD software or manual methods while optimizing material utilization. Perform pattern grading for different sizes and support accurate material costing. Analyze cost breakdowns and identify opportunities for cost optimization and value engineering. Communicate material requirements, pattern details, and costing information to relevant teams for pricing and planning. Oversee prototype and sample development including pattern making, cutting, sewing, and finishing. Conduct fit and wear tests to evaluate comfort, functionality, and quality standards. Incorporate feedback from internal teams and customers to refine and improve product samples. Manage sample approval processes and ensure timely coordination with stakeholders. Document product specifications, technical requirements, and development progress accurately. Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth transition from development to bulk production. Maintain effective communication with internal teams, suppliers, and customers throughout the product lifecycle. Monitor compliance with internal quality standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement. Maintain accurate records of patterns, samples, revisions, and approvals for traceability.

Candidate Profile

• Diploma or Degree in Garment Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in product development, garment technology, or a related role.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, fabric selection, and production processes.

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of CAD tools and pattern development techniques.
• Strong understanding of costing methods and material utilization.
• Excellent problem-solving skills related to fit and construction issues.
• Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
• Good communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
