Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Civil Engineer to oversee building construction, site supervision, quality control, coordination, and project execution for a seven-story building project in Kandy.

The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising civil works, ensuring construction activities are carried out according to approved drawings and specifications, coordinating with project stakeholders, maintaining quality and safety standards, and supporting timely project completion. This role requires strong building supervision experience, technical knowledge, and the ability to manage site-level construction activities effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Supervision & Site Management

• Supervise day-to-day civil construction activities at the project site.
• Ensure construction works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, standards, and project requirements.
• Monitor site progress and ensure work is completed within agreed timelines.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and site teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Identify site issues and provide practical engineering solutions.

Quality Control & Technical Compliance

• Ensure all civil works meet required quality standards and construction specifications.
• Review construction methods, material usage, and workmanship quality.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented where required.
• Support testing, inspection, and quality assurance processes.
• Ensure proper documentation of site activities, approvals, and inspection records.

Project Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare and submit progress reports, site updates, and technical documentation.
• Monitor project schedules, resource allocation, and site productivity.
• Support project planning, work sequencing, and construction coordination.
• Assist in resolving technical and operational challenges during project execution.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure site activities comply with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Support implementation of safe working practices across the construction site.
• Conduct site monitoring to identify risks and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Promote a safety-focused culture among site teams and workers.

Candidate Profile

• BSc. Engineering degree in Civil Engineering.
• Corporate membership of IESL or an equivalent professional membership.
• Minimum 10 years of total work experience after graduation.
• Minimum 5 years of specific experience in building supervision.
• Strong experience in multi-story building construction projects.
• Good knowledge of civil engineering standards, construction methods, drawings, and specifications.
• Strong site supervision, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage contractors, site teams, and project stakeholders effectively.
• Good understanding of quality control, safety standards, and project documentation.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
