Role Overview

The Store Assistantt is responsible for delivering a warm, welcoming, and values-led experience to guests, donors, volunteers, and visitors. The role supports day-to-day café and retail operations, ensuring high standards of customer service, cleanliness, and teamwork.

Working closely with the Café Manager and wider team, the Assistant helps create a calm, positive environment while supporting sales, events, and daily operational needs in line with policies and mission objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Front of House & Customer Experience

  • Greet and welcome guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, ensuring they feel valued and comfortable.
  • Act as a representative of the organization to the public, embodying its values and mission in every interaction.
  • Handle customer concerns and complaints professionally, aiming to resolve issues promptly and maintain guest satisfaction.
  • Address guest questions or concerns courteously and efficiently.
  • Encourage team members to stay engaged and passionate while delivering top-notch service.

Store Assistant

  • Support point-of-sale processes and basic cash handling in line with procedures.
  • Support day-to-day café service, including assisting with barista and service duties during busy periods.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of café and retail areas.
  • Assist with merchandise and retail sales, including product knowledge, display, and basic upselling.

Operational & Team Support

  • Support café events, promotions, and special initiatives as required.
  • Follow policies, health & safety standards, and customer care guidelines.
  • Assist with opening and closing tasks as delegated by the Café Manager or Supervisor.
  • Work collaboratively with the café and wider team.
  • Support basic stock checks and flag low stock or issues to the relevant team member.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 05 years of experience as a Café or Store Assistant in a reputed café set-up.
  • Must practice exceptional customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal and management skills, with a passion for contributing to the organizations mission.
  • Approachable team leader and strong team player, with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and able to use initiative.
  • Organized and trustworthy.
  • Resilient and willing to take on challenges.
  • Must be flexible — the nature of work can often be unpredictable.
