Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced, people-focused, and strategically driven Head of Human Resources / HR Business Partner to lead HR strategy, employee relations, recruitment, performance management, compliance, safety culture, and workforce development within a fast-paced logistics and delivery environment.

The selected candidate will be responsible for aligning HR initiatives with business objectives, strengthening employee engagement, supporting operational teams, driving compliance, and building a high-performing workforce across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment activities, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and workforce planning.
  • Partner with business leaders and department heads to identify manpower requirements and support talent planning.
  • Foster positive employee relations by addressing employee concerns and maintaining a productive work environment.
  • Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters, conflict resolution, and workplace communication professionally.
  • Administer compensation, benefits, performance management, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
  • Ensure HR practices are aligned with employment legislation, labour regulations, and organizational standards.
  • Design and deliver training and development programs to enhance employee capabilities and career growth.
  • Promote continuous improvement through safety awareness, training, compliance, and performance-based HR programs.
  • Manage HR budgets, resources, and departmental operations effectively.
  • Lead employee well-being, workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and incident-management initiatives.
  • Integrate Occupational Health and Safety requirements into HR practices.
  • Support a strong safety culture across the organization through awareness, training, and compliance monitoring.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing workforce through engagement, development, and retention initiatives.
  • Support organizational development, change management, and culture-building activities.
  • Maintain accurate HR documentation, employee records, reports, and compliance-related data.
  • Prepare HR reports, manpower updates, employee-relations summaries, and management presentations.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to resolve people-related challenges and improve workforce effectiveness.
  • Perform any other HR leadership or business partnering duties assigned by management.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification in Human Resource Management, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Experience in the courier, logistics, transportation, or last-mile delivery industry will be a distinct advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of HR operations, employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and workforce planning.
  • Good understanding of employment legislation, labour regulations, HR compliance, and workplace standards.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
  • Exposure to compensation, benefits, succession planning, training, and employee-development initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work closely with operational teams in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills in English and Sinhala.
  • Strong ability to manage employee relations matters with confidentiality, fairness, and professionalism.
  • Experience promoting workplace safety, employee well-being, and OHS-related HR practices will be an advantage.
  • Strong planning, reporting, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and support business requirements effectively.
