Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and structured Data Analytics Team Lead to lead and professionalize a growing data and analytics function within a management consulting and development environment.

The selected candidate will be responsible for leading the analytics team, managing multiple analytics workstreams, ensuring timely delivery of projects, maintaining quality standards, and bringing structure, accountability, and process discipline to the team. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong data analytics expertise, people leadership skills, project management capability, and the ability to manage deliverables, timelines, costs, and stakeholder expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Operational Management

• Lead and manage the data analytics team by setting direction, maintaining standards, and ensuring accountability.
• Guide team members to deliver high-quality analytics outputs on time and within budget.
• Build structure into how the team plans, prioritizes, and delivers work.
• Support team productivity, quality, and professional development.
• Create a disciplined and organized working rhythm within the analytics function.

Project Management & Delivery Control

• Project manage multiple analytics workstreams simultaneously.
• Track project progress, timelines, budgets, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
• Ensure analytics projects are completed according to agreed expectations and deadlines.
• Identify delivery risks and take corrective action to keep projects on track.
• Maintain clear visibility of workload, priorities, and project status for management.

Data Analytics & Technical Guidance

• Provide technical guidance on data analytics builds, optimization, and quality assurance.
• Support the team in using tools such as Python, R, SQL, and related analytics platforms.
• Review analytics outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and business relevance.
• Improve technical standards, documentation, and quality control practices.
• Support problem-solving across data, reporting, and analytics-related tasks.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience leading or managing a data analytics team, analytics function, or similar technical team.
• Strong proficiency in Python, R, and/or SQL.
• Strong project management capability with experience managing timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
• Experience managing multiple client or stakeholder-facing workstreams.
• Ability to provide technical guidance while also leading through process, accountability, and structure.
• Familiarity with research publications will be an added advantage.
• Familiarity with web development will be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to bring structure to an unstructured environment while maintaining team engagement.
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Willingness to work on-site in Colombo, including Saturdays as part of the regular work schedule.
