Role Overview 

We are seeking an experienced and people-oriented Assistant Manager – Human Resources to lead HR operations and employee relations initiatives within a large-scale manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing employee relations, grievance handling, disciplinary processes, HR compliance, workforce engagement, and operational HR activities while ensuring adherence to labor regulations and company policies. This role requires a hands-on HR professional with strong manufacturing sector experience, excellent people management skills, and the ability to build a positive workplace culture while supporting organizational growth and operational excellence. 

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee employee relations matters including grievances, disciplinary procedures, workplace investigations, and conflict resolution activities.
• Ensure compliance with labor legislation, company policies, HR procedures, and statutory requirements.
• Manage day-to-day HR operations, employee documentation, records management, and HR administration.
• Conduct investigations relating to workplace disputes, disciplinary issues, and employee concerns while maintaining confidentiality and fairness.
• Support management in resolving employee-related issues and maintaining positive industrial relations.
• Plan and implement employee engagement, welfare, recognition, and retention initiatives.
• Monitor key HR metrics including absenteeism, turnover, disciplinary trends, grievances, and workforce performance indicators.
• Prepare monthly and periodic HR reports and provide actionable insights to management.
• Support workforce planning and operational HR requirements across the organization.
• Guide, coach, and develop HR team members while promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders including labor authorities, legal advisors, and government institutions when required.
• Ensure proper maintenance of employee files, statutory documentation, and compliance records.
• Support performance management initiatives and employee development programs.
• Drive a positive organizational culture that promotes employee engagement, accountability, and productivity.
• Contribute to organizational policies, procedures, and HR operational improvements.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's Degree or Professional Qualification in Human Resource Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of HR experience, preferably within Manufacturing, FMCG, Dairy, or Industrial Operations.
• Strong hands-on experience in Employee Relations, Grievance Handling, and Disciplinary Management.
• Thorough knowledge of Sri Lankan labor laws, disciplinary procedures, and statutory compliance requirements.
• Experience handling workplace investigations, employee counseling, and conflict resolution.
• Strong understanding of HR operations, employee administration, and workforce management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and operational challenges.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience interacting with labor authorities and legal advisors will be an added advantage.
