Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Tax Accountant - Australian Tax to deliver high-quality taxation, accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and client support services for Australian operations.

The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements, tax returns, BAS, IAS, payroll tax, FBT returns, and supporting Australian tax compliance requirements. This role requires strong Australian accounting experience, excellent attention to detail, client relationship management skills, and the ability to guide junior team members while maintaining accurate financial and statutory records.

Key Responsibilities

Taxation & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare financial statements for trusts, companies, SMSFs, and partnerships.
  • Prepare tax returns for trusts, companies, sole traders, partnerships, and individuals.
  • Prepare and assist with interim income tax returns.
  • Prepare Business Activity Statements, Instalment Activity Statements, payroll tax returns, and Fringe Benefits Tax returns.
  • Support compliance with Australian taxation requirements, including PAYG, GST, superannuation, WorkCover, and Centrelink-related matters.
  • Assist clients with tax and regulatory compliance requirements.

Australian Accounting & Advisory Support

  • Review tax outcomes and provide value-added insights to clients.
  • Support CGT and Division 7A-related work and provide practical advice where required.
  • Assist in identifying tax planning opportunities and compliance improvements.
  • Maintain accuracy and timeliness in all taxation and accounting deliverables.

Bookkeeping & Payroll

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time.
  • Support day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting activities.
  • Generate and post journal entries and review general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare management reports and intercompany loan reconciliations.

Client Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Communicate professionally with clients regarding financial statements, tax matters, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide proactive support and respond to client queries in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a high level of service quality and professionalism in all client interactions.

Administrative, Statutory & Team Support

  • Maintain electronic filing of client records.
  • Prepare statutory documents for companies and trusts.
  • Maintain share registers, minute books, and statutory records.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to junior staff.
  • Assist managers with technical and taxation-related matters.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and continuous team development.

Candidate Profile

  • Professional qualification in Accounting and Finance, such as CIMA, ACCA, CPA, or Chartered Accountant.
  • Degree or Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 4–5 years of experience in the accounting industry.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of Australian accounting experience is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting standards.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and Australian taxation systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain high-quality output.
