Our clients interdisciplinary, multi-office design firm is looking for a Design Technology Manager interested in applying current and future technologies to our firms established culture of design.
The position will support the firm's effort to innovate, develop, manage, and coordinate the hardware and software solutions used in the design, production, and visualization of architectural and engineering projects with an emphasis on development and implementation of BIM standards.
Software products include, but are not limited to, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suites, Revit, BIM 360, AutoCAD, Enscape, SketchUp, Bluebeam, and Lumion.
Reporting to the Associates and Principals, and working alongside our IT consultant, you will be helping to implement, train, and grow design technology capabilities.
Responsibilities for this role include, but may not be limited to:
- Manage and oversee on-going technology as tools for project integration and advancement.
- The Design Technology Manager will have the support of the offices of our CEO and Managing Principals aligning staff and project needs with technology-driven opportunities, inclusive of hardware, software, training, and other investments necessary to innovatively adopt BIM in a consistent manner.
- Aid in our expansion of BIM tools in future projects.
- Familiarity with lean project processes, including team structure, cloud-based collaboration, and legal controls (digital data agreements, BIMx Plans, etc) would be considered a plus.
- Helpdesk support for Revit, BIM360, and NavisWorks (including clash detection reporting) during continued growth of our user pool will be expected of the successful candidate.
- Assist with staff training and mentoring of technology tools and processes.
- Assist in the design documentation process working directly with Project Architects and other designers.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and experience in coordinating with architectural and structural engineering teams, clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Technical expertise in enterprise-wide BIM enabling applications and experience working in a BIM Coordinator/Management role, including experience with Revit and AutoCAD applications.
- Acting as a BIM Champion.
- Successful candidates will have experience working independently and as part of an effective team.
- Develops and executes innovative tactical plans for design technology that support the firms strategic objectives by creating written technology evaluations and budgets for future technology adoption that aligns with the corporate goals.
- Coordinates the integration of efficient operations with design technology by managing software products, incorporating new version releases, testing and deployments with IT, and implementation of BIM, supporting software for BIM, and other design technology for efficient development of projects.
- Consults with firm leaders to determine and recommend technology requirements, priorities of new projects, implementation strategy of process improvements, and innovative solutions.
- Researches and evaluates potential software and other technology solutions for potential procurement and implementation and develops annual technology budget for review and approval by firm leaders.
- Develops and implements BIM software workflows and communicates the benefits of BIM within and outside the firm.
- Oversees BIM and other software firm-wide, including providing end-user training, support, and leadership of IT staff.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor degree recommended, with 5 or more years of relevant architectural drafting/design experience.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCad BlueBeam, NavisWorks, and Sketchup with a minimum 5-year hands-on experience.
- Experience with Sefaira or other High Performance software is a plus.
- Utilization of VR technology and its application to architectural design visualization.
- Interest in researching and testing new software and technology.
- Desire to serve as mentor to guide and advance staff.
- Working knowledge of building codes and regulations, including ADA and Title 24 a plus.
- Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Effective written, graphic, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as under the direction of a project manager.
