About the job Data Engineer

About Us: At International Development Resources (IDR), we believe that our greatest asset is our people. We're a diverse, passionate, and forward-thinking team that values creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning. When you join IDR, you become part of a global network dedicated to building technology that transforms businesses and makes a real-world impact.

The opportunity

The team behind a mid-sized advertising agency for franchise brands needs a Data Engineer to keep marketing reporting accurate and timely across national, franchise, and individual-location accounts. The agency has served franchise businesses in the U.S. and Canada for over twenty years, and its reporting depends on data pulled from advertising, analytics, and CRM systems. You would step into a hands-on role that turns messy source data into dependable pipelines, so media, strategy, account, and leadership teams can trust what they see.

What you'll own

  • Build, maintain and troubleshoot automated pipelines that connect advertising, web analytics, CRM and franchise reporting data.
  • Design ETL/ELT workflows and data models that support cross-channel, multi-customer and location-level reporting.
  • Improve data quality through validation, monitoring and metric reconciliation, and explain discrepancies in attribution, conversions and reporting windows.
  • Partner with Media, Analytics, Client Services and Strategy to prioritize technical fixes, automate repetitive reporting work and keep documentation of sources, definitions and refresh schedules current.

What you'll bring

Must-haves

  • Professional experience in data engineering, marketing analytics engineering, BI development or a closely related technical role.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, APIs and data integrations.
  • Understanding of data quality, documentation, access management and repeatable production workflows.
  • Fluent spoken and written English, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to U.S.-based teams and partners.
  • Ownership and follow-through, with the habit of spotting problems before they affect customer reporting.
  • An analytical, detail-oriented approach to accurate, trustworthy data.
  • Clear communication with both technical and nontechnical colleagues.
  • Resourcefulness, curiosity and the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
  • The ability to balance multiple priorities and collaborate in a fast-moving agency environment, staying calm, organized and solutions oriented.
  • A preference for practical, scalable solutions over unnecessary complexity, and openness to feedback.

Nice-to-haves

  • Domo experience (strongly preferred). Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms, plus the ability to learn Domo quickly, will also be considered.
  • Experience with digital advertising and measurement data, including Google Ads, Meta Ads, and GA4 (strongly preferred).
  • Comfort with Python or another scripting language for data manipulation, automation, and troubleshooting (preferred).
  • Agency, multi-customer, franchise or multi-location reporting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data analytics, information systems or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (preferred).
