Cloud Database Engineer (Contract) - Midrand/Hybrid - ISB2702515

Our client requires the services of a Software Engineer (Senior) - Midrand/Menlyn/Rosslyn/Home Office rotation

POSITION: Contract until December 2026

EXPERIENCE: 6-8 Years related working experience.

COMMENCEMENT: As soon as possible

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• South African citizens/residents are preferred.
• ITIL process knowledge and work experience
• At least 5 years of practical experience in Oracle database administration or development
• Fluent business English

Minimum experience:

• Experience with Oracle database architecture, automation, and performance tuning.
• Expert knowledge of cloud architectures with a focus on databases
• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, autonomous database on shared and dedicated infrastructure, provisioning and supporting of OCI resources (preferred)
• Optional PostgreSQL knowledge in cloud environment

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

• Skills and experience in all facets of Agile coaching (setup, roles, ceremonies, artefacts, estimations, etc.).
• Methodical skills and experience in coaching teams in Agile adoption as Agile Coach or as a Scrum / Agile Master.
• Experience in IT environments (entire SDLC) done in Agile methodology.
• Advanced experience and knowledge of all MS Office Tools, JIRA & Confluence (setting up Confluence spaces, JIRA SCRUM / Kanban boards, reporting, etc.)

ADVANTAGEOUS TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Sound experience with agile methods (Scrum, Kanban)
• Proficiency in additional European languages is a plus

ROLE:

• Design and implement cloud-based database solutions.

• Develop and maintain database migration plans.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve database-related issues.
• Ensure that all database systems are secure, reliable, and compliant with industry standards.
• Develop and maintain documentation for all database systems and processes.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in database engineering and cloud computing.
