About the job Midwife - Assistant Nursing Officer
The Midwife (MW) is a key member of the hospital clinical team and is a responsible and accountable professional who is responsible for the provision of continuity of midwifery care and delegated activities to a defined group of women within a framework of a social model of care that is woman centred, encompasses primary health care principles and includes not only healthy pregnant women but also those women who have complex pregnancies. Works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period. Plan, implement, evaluate and maintain a high standard of midwifery care to achieve desired clinical outcomes. Responsible for ensuring that both the medical and emotional needs of the patient are adequately met throughout the entire birthing process.
Education and Experience profile
- Must have a Diploma in Midwifery (or in Comprehensive Nursing) from recognized Institution.
- Must be registered and licenced by the Uganda Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in maternal health or maternity services.
- Proven ability to conduct normal deliveries independently and handle obstetric emergencies within scope.

Preferred:
- Experience working in an international or multicultural hospital setting.
- Training in Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO), Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (EmONC), or equivalent.
