About the job Head of Pharmacy Unit

The Head of Pharmacy Unit leads the strategic, clinical, and operational management of all pharmacy services across the International Specialized Hospital of Uganda (ISHU), ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based medication management in compliance with Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, Ugandan regulatory requirements, and international best practices.
This role provides leadership in pharmaceutical care, formulary management, medication safety, clinical pharmacy practice, and contributes to hospital-wide initiatives in quality improvement, education, and research.

Education and Experience profile:

  • A B.Sc. Degree in Pharmacy or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • A M.Sc. in Pharmacy or its equivalent 
  • Must be registered  (or meet the requirements for registration) to the Ugandan Pharmacy Council
  • Minimum of five (5) years of work experience as pharmacist in a reputable organization
  • Experience in the implementation of hospital information systems (HIS/EMR/MMIS).
  • Proven expertise in quality improvement, accreditation processes (JCI, ISO, or equivalent), and medication safety is an added advantage.
  • Previous documented management experience in healthcare facilities.
