Senior Consultant of Dialysis

The Senior Consultant of Dialysis will have the responsibility of the Dialysis Sub-unit. He/She will be mainly involved in the care of the patients within the Sub-unit, but they will also be called to contribute to the General Nephrology ward guard shift and take part to the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Nephrology Unit. The Senior Consultant autonomously prescribes diagnostic test and therapies; he/she reports daily to the Chief of Unit about the most recent or serious cases in the sub-unit/ward. The Senior Consultant will attend periodic meetings with the Chief of Nephrology Unit, internists, urologists, anesthetists and other specialists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients belonging to the Unit.

The Senior Consultant of Dialysis will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills. Finally, he/she will apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.

Education and Experience profile:

• A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
• A M.Med./PhD in Nephrology (or its equivalent)
• Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
• Minimum of twelve (12) years of work experience in internal medicine area, of which at least five (5) in dialysis
• Has scientific research titles in Nephrology or related sectors
