ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced SAP FICO Consultant with deep specialisation in Joint Venture Accounting (JVA) to join our growing SAP practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end configuration, implementation, and support of the SAP JVA module integrated within the FICO landscape. This role requires strong business process knowledge of joint venture structures, venture partner billing, carried-interest calculations, overhead distribution, and cutback processing — primarily within the Oil & Gas, Energy, or Infrastructure sectors.

The consultant will work closely with client finance teams, project managers, and technical architects to deliver high-quality SAP solutions that align with joint venture agreements and regulatory requirements applicable in the UAE and broader GCC region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

JVA Configuration & Implementation

Lead end-to-end design, configuration, and deployment of SAP Joint Venture Accounting (JVA) module

Configure Venture Masters, Equity Groups, Equity Types, and Business Associates

Set up JVA cutback processing rules, overhead netting, and partner billing cycles

Configure carried-interest (CI) and working-interest (WI) structures and apply to cost/revenue distribution

Integrate JVA with FI (General Ledger), CO (Controlling), AM (Asset Management), and PS (Project Systems)

Configure suspense account management and JVA-specific document splitting for partner-level reporting

Finance & Controlling (FICO) Core

Design and configure SAP General Ledger (New GL) including document splitting, profit centre accounting, and parallel ledgers

Handle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) configuration, payment terms, and dunning procedures

Configure Asset Accounting (AA) including depreciation areas, asset classes, and integration with JVA for joint-asset cost allocation

Support Cost Centre Accounting (CCA), Internal Orders, Profit Centre Accounting (PCA), and Product Costing as they intersect with JVA

Manage intercompany and intra-company JVA settlement and reconciliation processes

Project Delivery & Stakeholder Management

Conduct business process workshops, gather requirements, and produce Functional Specification Documents (FSDs) and Business Blueprint documentation

Perform gap analysis between client requirements and standard SAP JVA functionality; propose fit/gap solutions

Lead unit testing, integration testing (SIT), and user acceptance testing (UAT) for JVA and FICO components

Develop and review test scripts, test cases, and defect resolution trackers

Manage and guide junior consultants and functional analysts on the JVA workstream

Conduct end-user training and prepare training materials, SOPs, and user manuals

Support & Operations

Provide post-go-live hypercare support; resolve P1/P2 incidents within defined SLA timelines

Manage period-end and year-end closing activities specific to JVA (cutback runs, JV billing, partner statements)

Liaise with SAP technical teams (ABAP developers) for custom enhancements, BADIs, and user exits in JVA

Prepare functional specifications for interfaces, reports, forms, and conversions (RICEFW) related to JVA

Support data migration activities for open JVA items, venture master data, and equity group definitions

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field

Professional certifications in Finance (CA, CPA, CMA, ACCA) are an advantage

SAP FICO or SAP S/4HANA Finance certification preferred

Experience

10+ years of total SAP FICO consulting experience, with a minimum of 5 years focused on SAP JVA implementation

At least 3 full-cycle SAP JVA implementations from Blueprint/Explore through to Go-Live

Proven experience in the Oil & Gas, Energy, or Infrastructure sector where joint ventures are central to business operations

Hands-on experience with SAP ECC 6.0 and/or SAP S/4HANA (1909 or later)

Experience working on projects in the UAE, GCC, or MENA region is strongly preferred

SAP FI – General Ledger, AR, AP, AA Expert – 10+ years

SAP CO – CCA, IO, PCA, Product Costing Advanced – 7+ years

SAP PS (Project Systems) – JVA integration Intermediate to Advanced

SAP S/4HANA Finance (New Asset Accounting, New GL) Advanced

SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) integration with JVA Intermediate (preferred)

SAP IS-Oil & Gas (PRA / JVA IS-OIL) Preferred – experience is a strong advantage

RICEFW – Functional Specifications Advanced

Data Migration (LSMW, BAPI, S/4 migration tools) Intermediate

KEY JVA FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS

Venture Master setup: Equity Groups, Equity Types, Business Associates, Suspense Groups

JVA Cutback: understanding of cutback postings, carry-forward rules, and net postings to venture partners

Partner Billing: Inter-partner JV billing, partner statements, and billing verification

Carried-Interest (CI) and Working-Interest (WI) structures and their impact on cost allocation

JV Cash Call processing and settlement against advance payments

Overhead and indirect cost distribution rules within JVA ventures

Tax handling for non-operator and operator scenarios in joint venture structures

Statutory reporting for JV entities in the UAE / GCC context (VAT treatment, inter-venture invoicing)

SAP JVA Period-End activities: monthly cutback, partner billing runs, JV reconciliation reports

Integration with SAP FI-CO, AM, PM, and PS modules within a joint venture context

SOFT SKILLS & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES

Strong analytical mindset with the ability to map complex JV business processes to SAP solutions

Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to articulate technical solutions to finance and business stakeholders

Structured documentation skills – capable of producing high-quality blueprints, FSDs, and training content

Collaborative team player with experience leading cross-functional project teams

Self-driven and able to manage time and deliverables with minimal supervision

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, client-facing consulting environment

Cross-cultural awareness and experience working in multinational project teams
