About the Role

We are looking for a Junior Network Security Engineer to strengthen a dedicated Security Engineering team. In this role, you will help safeguard and optimize complex network environments, ensuring stability, performance, and high security standards.

You will work on central network infrastructures, supporting security operations, incident handling, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is not a traditional on-site networking role — instead, you will focus on centralized, large-scale network security environments.

Your Responsibilities

  • Monitor, manage, and secure central network environments
  • Identify vulnerabilities and propose remediation measures
  • Provide 3rd-line support for incidents and change requests
  • Participate in security and infrastructure projects
  • Manage and maintain network security tools and systems
  • Support incident response and operational troubleshooting
  • Handle and prioritize incoming security events and tickets
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve security architecture
  • Contribute to the development of security processes and procedures

Your Profile

Must-Have

  • Initial experience in network security
  • Experience as a network specialist (min. 1 year)
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Palo Alto Networks & Panorama
    • Infoblox
    • Cisco / Fortinet (Fortigate)
  • Experience with VPN solutions (GlobalProtect, Ivanti Connect Secure)
  • Experience managing DNS & certificates (e.g. Sectigo, Harica)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Network infrastructure
    • System administration & configurations
  • Dutch proficiency at CEFR level C2

Nice to Have

  • Experience with F5 BIG-IP or CrushFTP
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN protocols, routing & switching
  • Familiarity with Splunk or log analysis tools
  • Experience with ITSM tools (e.g. Freshservice)
  • Experience in public sector environments
