Network Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructures. You will work closely with operations and security teams to ensure the availability, performance, and security of network environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain routed and switched network infrastructures.
- Configure and manage Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW) and IPSec VPN solutions.
- Install, operate, and maintain optical fiber networks, including WDM technologies.
- Perform physical installation, rack mounting, and cabling of network equipment in data centers and remote sites.
- Develop automation and scripting solutions using Python.
- Deploy and maintain network monitoring and open-source network management tools.
- Utilize SIEM and log collection platforms to support monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident investigations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and network diagrams.
- Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to support operational activities, escalations, and change management processes.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in network engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with routing and switching technologies.
- Solid knowledge of Python scripting and network automation.
- Experience with Next-Generation Firewalls and IPSec VPN configuration and management.
- Experience with optical fiber networking and WDM technologies.
- Practical experience with physical network installations, rack equipment, and structured cabling.
- Good working knowledge of Linux systems and basic administration.
- Experience with network monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus, LibreNMS, or similar solutions.
- Familiarity with open-source networking and automation tools such as Ansible and NetBox.
- Experience with SIEM and log management platforms.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certifications.
- Experience with fiber testing and certification equipment (OTDR, power meters, etc.).
- Knowledge of network security frameworks and industry best practices.
- Experience with ITIL processes and change management.
Languages
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
- Good working knowledge of Dutch and/or French.
Additional Requirements
- Valid Category B driving license.
- Belgian nationality required.
- Valid National, NATO, and EU security clearance at SECRET level, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Willingness to work 100% on-site in Brussels.
