Senior Application Tester / QA Engineer (Hybrid – Brussels)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Application Tester / QA Engineer to support a large-scale modernization program focused on migrating a legacy platform to a modern microservices and Kubernetes-based architecture.

The role involves ensuring software quality across API-driven and event-based systems while working closely with Agile delivery teams in a complex enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, prepare, and execute manual and automated test plans and test cases
• Validate functional and non-functional requirements
• Perform API testing and integration testing across distributed systems
• Identify, document, and track defects and quality issues
• Support exploratory testing and edge-case analysis from an end-user perspective
• Contribute to Agile/Scrum delivery processes and continuous quality improvement
• Coach and support team members on testing best practices
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, QA teams, and stakeholders to ensure software quality
• Produce clear reporting and documentation of testing activities and results

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in software testing within Agile environments
• Expertise in:
  • BDD and Gherkin
  • API testing (Postman, SoapUI, OpenAPI)
  • Jira, Confluence, and Xray
  • Test planning, defect management, and test documentation
  • Message queue testing (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, DLQ handling)
  • JSON, API versioning, pagination, idempotency, and error semantics
• Good understanding of programming logic and system interactions
• Experience with exploratory testing and critical quality analysis
• Knowledge of Selenium and Playwright is considered a plus
• ISTQB or similar testing certifications are highly valued

Languages

• English: Active knowledge
• French and/or Dutch: Nice to have
