About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior .NET & Web Development Expert to join a GIS-focused development team within a large public-sector organization in Belgium.

In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of business-critical web applications that support agricultural, policy, and geographic information processes. Many of these applications incorporate advanced GIS functionality and are used to support decision-making, mapping, land management, and regulatory activities.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical solutions, translating functional requirements into scalable architectures, and sharing technical expertise with fellow developers.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise web applications using modern Microsoft technologies.
• Contribute to the development of new functionalities and enhancements for existing systems.
• Translate functional specifications into technical designs and implementation plans.
• Develop robust, maintainable, and scalable solutions following best practices and design patterns.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.

GIS Application Development

• Develop and maintain applications containing GIS and mapping functionality.
• Work with spatial data, geographic information systems, and mapping frameworks.
• Support applications used for land management, environmental analysis, planning, and policy support.
• Integrate GIS components into modern web applications.

Database & Integration Development

• Design and optimize database queries and data access layers.
• Work with Oracle, Oracle Spatial, SQL Server, and Entity Framework.
• Develop and maintain APIs and service-oriented integrations using ASP.NET Web API and WCF.
• Ensure efficient and secure handling of business and geographic data.

Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Work closely with project leaders, analysts, and development teams.
• Share expertise and mentor team members on .NET, web technologies, and development best practices.
• Promote open communication, transparency, and collaboration within the team.
• Support Agile delivery processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Have

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience with .NET (C#).
• Minimum 8 years of experience working with enterprise software development technologies.
• Strong experience with:
  • .NET 6+ and .NET Framework
  • Entity Framework / Entity Framework Core
  • ASP.NET Web API
  • WCF
  • C#
  • Design Patterns
• Professional experience with:
  • TypeScript
  • Angular 18+
  • Browser-side JavaScript development
  • OpenLayers
• Strong knowledge of:
  • GIS systems
  • Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
  • SQL Server
  • Oracle Spatial
• Fluent Dutch communication skills (CEFR Level C2).

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of:
  • Python

• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
