Big Data Engineer (Expert) 

We are looking for an experienced Big Data Engineer to join a healthcare data platform initiative focused on building a modern Azure-based data ecosystem. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable data integration and quality solutions while working closely with architects, analysts, and project managers in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain data hubs and data integration solutions.
  • Build and maintain data validation engines and data quality processes.
  • Develop REST APIs and connector services for data exchange and integration.
  • Develop ETL/data pipelines using Azure Databricks, Python, SQL Server, and the Microsoft BI stack.
  • Perform data functional analysis and implement business requirements.
  • Test, troubleshoot, document, and maintain data solutions.
  • Deliver demonstrations, user training, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the Agile project lifecycle.

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Azure Databricks
    • Python
    • SQL Server
    • Microsoft BI Stack (Visual Studio, SSIS)
  • Experience with data engineering and ETL development.
  • Knowledge of REST API development.
  • Experience with data quality, validation, and Master Data Management (MDM) is an advantage.
  • Experience with Kimball dimensional modeling.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Dutch or French (active) with passive knowledge of the other national language.
  • Willing to work at least 2 days per week onsite in Brussels.
  • Teleworking is permitted within Belgium.
