About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Cost Estimator (Calculator) to support maintenance and engineering projects by performing detailed cost calculations and ensuring accurate, complete scopes for contractor selection.
In this role, you will work closely with maintenance, purchasing, and external contractors to ensure the best price-quality balance for mechanical maintenance work.
What You'll Do
As a Cost Estimator, you will:
- Perform pre-, counter-, and post-calculations to evaluate supplier quotations
- Assess scope completeness and pricing accuracy to support decision-making
- Develop cost estimates based on technical drawings (materials, transport, foundations)
- Provide expert advice on technical specifications and cost structures
- Collaborate across factories, procurement teams, and external vendors
- Ensure all applications and proposals are complete and aligned with requirements
- Ask the right questions to clarify scope and gather missing information

What We're Looking For
- Completed HBO-level (or equivalent) qualification in a technical field
- Proven experience in cost estimation for large maintenance or engineering projects
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to analyze technical drawings and translate into cost estimates
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and a strong team player
- Fluency in Dutch (spoken and written) is essential
Work Environment
You will be part of a Maintenance Services department, a relatively new team within the Projects division. The team is responsible for:
- Creating clear and complete maintenance scopes for contractors
- Calculating should-cost estimates to ensure fair pricing
- Improving efficiency and reducing administrative burden across the process
You'll work in a small, collaborative team, engaging with multiple client factories and contributing to building a high-value service offering.
Additional Information
- Assignment falls under Scale 17 of the applicable collective labour agreement
- Compensation is based on experience and skill level
