For a national infrastructure organization, we are seeking a System Architect for the National Bridge and Lock Standard (LBS). The role focuses on developing architecture models, analyzing existing frameworks, and providing substantive architectural advice to various projects within a complex, safety-critical technical environment.

The architect will contribute to the evolution of the LBS architecture and ensure alignment with related technical and organizational frameworks.

Assignment Objectives / Deliverables

  • Transform the current LBS structure into a future-proof architecture.
  • Develop and refine components of the architecture model based on analysis and validation of existing LBS information against the new model.
  • Provide architectural advice and analysis on the relationship between LBS and other enterprise architecture developments.
  • Advise on alignment between LBS and related technical and regulatory frameworks.
  • Design architectural components of nautical/technical objects within the scope of the LBS improvement program, with a strong focus on architecture principles.
  • Provide structured advice on handling changes and issues within the LBS, including process improvements.
  • Produce architectural documentation and descriptions of the LBS model.
  • Advise projects on the application and interpretation of the architecture model.
  • Review project design baselines with emphasis on architecture consistency and adherence to principles.

Role Structure

  • No direct management or supervisory responsibilities.

Mandatory Requirements

  1. Completed HBO (Bachelor-level) education in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Science (system design, system architecture, automation engineering / industrial automation, information technology), Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience with modeling languages such as ArchiMate, SysML, and UML, applied in multidisciplinary environments with multiple technical domains or frameworks.
  3. Minimum 5 years of experience in system integration, system architecture, and architecture methodologies within business-critical or mission-critical systems.
  4. Minimum 5 years of experience applying Systems Engineering in complex technical projects to ensure safety, reliability, and structured system realization.
  5. Minimum 5 years of experience with technical installations in bridges, locks, tunnels, or comparable infrastructure systems, with understanding of associated complexity.
  6. Strong communication skills with proven experience advising senior stakeholders such as department heads, technical managers, and project managers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with bridge and lock technical installations, including control systems.
  • Experience with the National Bridge and Lock Standard or comparable infrastructure standards.
  • Understanding of government or public-sector organizational structures and working methods.
  • Experience with Sparx Enterprise Architect or similar modeling tool environments.
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and model-driven software/system development.
  • Strong analytical skills with a practical, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated networking ability, result orientation, and conscientious working style.
