Job Title: Senior HVAC Engineer
Location: Brussels, Belgium (Fully Remote)
Contract Type: Consultancy / Freelance
We are seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Engineer to conduct an independent technical assessment of two existing studies related to the future-proofing of a large administrative building in Brussels. The mission focuses on HVAC systems, energy efficiency improvements, and compliance with Brussels energy regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a desk study focused on HVAC installations in a tertiary building environment
- Analyse technical documentation, inspection reports, as-built files, and engineering studies
- Provide an independent technical evaluation with recommendations for short- and long-term investments
- Assess compliance with Brussels energy regulations and obligations (BWLKE, PLAGE, renovation requirements)
- Evaluate measures required to reduce energy consumption toward targeted energy performance objectives by 2040
- Deliver a structured report outlining investment priorities, risks, and improvement opportunities
- Make pragmatic assumptions and recommendations where information is incomplete
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Civil, Industrial, or Construction Engineer specializing in HVAC systems
- Strong expertise in heating, ventilation, and cooling systems for tertiary buildings
- Proven experience with Brussels energy regulations and renovation obligations for tertiary buildings
- Experience in technical assessments, independent engineering reviews, or consultancy assignments
- Ability to analyse complex technical documentation and provide clear, actionable recommendations
- Experience working within public sector or public procurement environments is an advantage
- Dutch proficiency required; English is a plus
