  • Contributing to the development and review of HR policies and procedures, helping to maintain clear and consistent working practices.
  • Supporting attendance, employee wellbeing and performance initiatives, working collaboratively with relevant colleagues and services.
  • Maintaining accurate, confidential case records and managing competing priorities to progress work within agreed timescales.
  • Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion throughout HR advice, decision-making and service delivery.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement within the HR service by identifying opportunities to strengthen processes and manager support.

Requirements

We're looking for a proactive, organised and solutions-focused HR professional with strong employee relations experience and the ability to build effective relationships across a complex organisation.

  • Experience advising on complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence matters.
  • Sound knowledge of employment law and HR practice, with the ability to translate this into clear, practical advice.
  • Experience supporting organisational change, restructuring, workforce planning or employee consultation.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to challenge constructively and explain sensitive issues clearly.
  • Experience working with trade unions or employee representatives, ideally within local government or another public-sector organisation.
  • A CIPD qualification or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret workforce information and recommend appropriate solutions.
