Deliver Quality Carpentry Repairs and Property Maintenance
We're recruiting eight experienced and reliable Multi Skilled Tradespeople with a carpentry bias to support Camden Council with property repairs and maintenance.
This role combines skilled carpentry, practical problem-solving, and complementary maintenance work. You'll help keep properties safe, functional, and well maintained, completing repairs professionally and providing a courteous service to residents and building users.
You'll work alongside supervisors, colleagues, and other trades to deliver effective repairs, manage your allocated workload, and maintain consistent standards of workmanship.
About the Role
As a Multi Skilled Tradesperson – Carpentry Bias, you'll undertake carpentry-led repairs and associated maintenance tasks, identifying faults, assessing the work required, and completing jobs safely and efficiently.
You'll bring a practical, customer-focused approach, with the ability to work independently and recognise when specialist support is needed. Any work outside your core trade should remain within your skills, training, and authorisation.
What you'll be doing:
- Carrying out carpentry repairs and maintenance, including work on doors, frames, skirting boards, cupboards, and other timber fixtures and fittings.
- Inspecting defects and identifying repair requirements, selecting appropriate materials, tools, and methods for the work.
- Undertaking associated multi-trade maintenance tasks within your competence, referring specialist work to the appropriate trade or supervisor.
- Completing allocated repairs within agreed timescales, following work instructions and maintaining a high standard of finish.
- Working respectfully in occupied properties where required, communicating clearly with residents and building users and keeping disruption to a minimum.
- Following safe working procedures, using tools and equipment appropriately and keeping work areas tidy and secure.
- Maintaining accurate job records, documenting work completed, materials used, outstanding defects, and any further action required.
- Working collaboratively with supervisors, scheduling teams, and other trades, reporting delays, access issues, or safety concerns promptly.
Requirements
We're looking for practical, organised, and dependable tradespeople with a strong carpentry background and the ability to undertake a range of associated repairs.
You'll take pride in your workmanship, communicate professionally, and be comfortable managing a varied workload while maintaining safe working practices.
You'll ideally have:
- Demonstrable experience in carpentry or joinery, particularly within property repairs, maintenance, or refurbishment.
- A relevant carpentry or joinery qualification, or equivalent practical trade experience.
- Experience undertaking complementary maintenance tasks, with a clear understanding of your competence and when specialist assistance is required.
- The ability to assess repair needs, interpret work instructions, and select appropriate materials and equipment.
- Strong health and safety awareness, including safe tool use, appropriate protective equipment, and compliance with site procedures.
- Good communication and customer service skills, with a respectful approach to working in residents' homes or other occupied premises.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to prioritise work, update job records, and work effectively both independently and within a team.
Applicants should have the right to work in the UK, be available for the proposed assignment period, and be able to attend the required work locations. Relevant references and any required pre-employment checks will need to be completed.
Why Apply
This is an opportunity to apply your carpentry and multi-trade maintenance experience in a practical Council assignment, contributing to the upkeep of properties and the quality of service provided to residents.
The role offers varied, hands-on work across repairs, fault finding, and general maintenance, with opportunities to work alongside other trades and use your skills to resolve everyday property issues.
