About the Role
JDS Energy & Mining is seeking an experienced Underground Mine Technician to support the development of an underground mining project located in the interior of British Columbia. This is a project‑based role operating on a fly‑in/fly‑out (FIFO) rotational schedule, with full camp accommodations provided while on site.
The Underground Mine Technician will provide technical support to underground operations, including surveying, drill layout, production monitoring, and technical data management. Working closely with mine engineers, geologists, and operations personnel, this role is critical to ensuring accurate mine development, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct underground surveying and layout activities to support mine development and production
- Mark drill patterns and development headings for drilling and blasting operations
- Collect and process survey and production data to maintain accurate mine plans
- Update and maintain mine drawings and underground maps using CAD and mine planning software
- Monitor underground development progress and production performance
- Perform excavation QA/QC, documentation, and corrective measures
- Review & approve of contractor prepared survey notes / driving layouts, monthly progress
- Provide progress analysis to inform cycle trends between shifts, lithologies, or other elements as required
- Collect, analyse, and issue to the project scheduler key milestone data required for master schedule update
- Prepare, and present where required daily, weekly, and monthly reports
- Assist with short‑range mine planning and scheduling activities
- Support ventilation monitoring and underground infrastructure tracking
- Maintain accurate technical records, reports, and survey databases
- Collaborate with engineers, geologists, and operations teams to improve operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with site safety standards, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Mining Engineering Technology, Mineral Resource Technology, Mine Surveying, or a related field
- Experience working in underground mining operations is considered an asset
- Knowledge of underground mine surveying techniques and development practices
- Familiarity with mining software such as:
- Deswik
- AutoCAD
- Promine
- Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced underground mining environment
