Pipeline Coordinator
About the job Pipeline Coordinator
Job Summary
The Pipeline Coordinator oversees the planning, installation, maintenance, and integrity of the mine site's linear piping networks, including tailings distribution lines, process water loops, dewatering networks, and fresh water supply lines. This role coordinates construction crews, piping contractors, and mine planning teams to ensure fluid transport networks scale seamlessly with advancing pit or underground mine development without disrupting production.
Key Responsibilities
- Piping Infrastructure Layout: Coordinate the routing, relocation, and installation of site pipelines, ensuring alignment with short-term mine plans, dump advancements, and tailings dam raises.
- Contractor & Field Supervision: Oversee third-party piping contractors and internal crews executing pipeline fusion (HDPE), trenching, valve installations, and pumping station modifications.
- Integrity Monitoring & Testing: Manage routine wall-thickness testing (ultrasonic), pipeline rotation schedules for abrasive slurry lines, and leak detection protocols to prevent environmental spills.
- Water Management Alignment: Collaborate closely with the Hydrology and Mine Planning teams to ensure pipeline flow capacities match seasonal dewatering requirements and mill water demands.
- Regulatory & Environmental Compliance: Ensure all piping networks, containment berms, and catch basins comply with environmental permits, provincial mining codes, and zero-harm safety standards.
- Material & Inventory Control: Maintain inventory levels of critical piping components (HDPE pipe, fittings, high-pressure valves, pumps) to minimize downtime during emergency repairs or planned line shifts.
