About the Role

JDS Energy & Mining is seeking an experienced Senior Contract Administrator to support the commercial execution of large‑scale mining and heavy industrial projects. This role is responsible for the end‑to‑end commercial administration of engineering, construction, and related services contracts. The position is site‑based in the interior of British Columbia, operating on a fly‑in / fly‑out (FIFO) rotation schedule. The Senior Contract Administrator plays a critical role in cost forecasting, estimating, and trend management to ensure commercial, cost, and schedule objectives are achieved, while proactively identifying, quantifying, and mitigating contractual and commercial risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage multiple contract types across engineering, construction, and site services scopes.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of contract scope, schedule, budget, and associated risks.
  • Organize and chair contract kick‑off meetings.
  • Ensure all required documentation and approvals are in place prior to contractor mobilization.
  • Manage vendor and contractor change requests and support timely cost and schedule analysis of proposed changes.
  • Develop and maintain contract‑specific quantity and cost forecasts, collaborating with engineers or superintendents to identify and report trends and changes.
  • Review payment certificates and contract forecasts for accuracy and compliance.
  • Administer claims in accordance with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Maintain contract registers, including management of securities and guarantees.
  • Ensure proper and timely execution of contract close‑out activities.
  • Maintain close alignment with project controls functions, collaborating with cost control and scheduling teams.
  • Identify and escalate commercial and contractual risks, contributing to mitigation plans and corrective actions.
  • Ensure process and documentation integrity in accordance with project and corporate requirements.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with contractor counterparts.
  • Provide coaching and leadership on effective contract administration practices.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in contract administration and cost control on mining or heavy industrial projects.
  • Extensive experience managing complex engineering and construction contracts in remote or site‑based environments.
