About the job Power Package Coordinator

The Power Package Coordinator supports the coordination, procurement, and delivery of electrical power packages for mining projects. This position works closely with engineering, procurement, project controls, vendors, suppliers, contractors, and construction teams to ensure power packages are progressing in accordance with project requirements, schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

Package Coordination

  • Coordinate the development and execution of electrical power packages from engineering and procurement through construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Maintain package schedules, trackers, and status reports to monitor progress and key milestones.
  • Coordinate technical, commercial, and project requirements across engineering, procurement, vendors, contractors, and construction teams.
  • Track package deliverables, approvals, outstanding actions, and required documentation.
  • Identify potential delays, scope changes, technical issues, and interfaces and escalate them to the appropriate project team members.

Engineering & Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate the flow of technical information between electrical engineering teams, vendors, contractors, and other project disciplines.
  • Track electrical drawings, specifications, datasheets, equipment documentation, and vendor submissions.
  • Coordinate vendor document reviews, comments, approvals, and responses to technical queries and RFIs.
  • Coordinate interfaces between power systems and civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation, and controls disciplines.
  • Support coordination of equipment such as substations, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, power distribution systems, and associated electrical infrastructure.

Procurement Support

  • Support the preparation and administration of RFPs, purchase orders, and procurement documentation for electrical equipment and materials.
  • Coordinate with procurement to monitor package status from bid through award, manufacturing, inspection, and delivery.
  • Assist with technical bid evaluations, vendor clarifications, and procurement comparisons.
  • Monitor vendor commitments and ensure required technical documentation and deliverables are received in accordance with purchase order requirements.

Schedule & Cost Tracking

  • Maintain package schedules and monitor progress against project milestones.
  • Track engineering deliverables, procurement activities, manufacturing, inspections, testing, and delivery dates.
  • Support package cost tracking and identify changes that may impact project budgets.
  • Prepare regular package status updates and reports for project management and project controls.
  • Maintain package action, risk, and issue registers.

Construction & Commissioning

  • Coordinate electrical equipment delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning requirements with vendors, contractors, and site teams.
  • Support coordination of construction activities to ensure work is progressing in accordance with engineering requirements and project schedules.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning activities as required.
  • Support the resolution of technical issues, deficiencies, and punch list items through commissioning and handover.

Documentation & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain accurate and organized package documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure vendor drawings, specifications, test records, certificates, manuals, and other required documentation are complete and current.
  • Support quality inspections and ensure electrical equipment and materials meet project specifications and applicable requirements.
  • Support package closeout and handover documentation.

Interdisciplinary Coordination

  • Liaise with engineering, procurement, project controls, construction, commissioning, vendors, contractors, and site teams.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings, vendor meetings, design reviews, and site coordination meetings.
  • Communicate package status, risks, outstanding actions, and schedule impacts to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support coordination of interfaces between power packages and other mine infrastructure and project systems.

Package Details

Qualifications/Experience/Education Requirements

  • Diploma or university degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical project coordination, package coordination, procurement coordination, or a related role.
  • Experience working on mining, mineral processing, EPC, or EPCM projects is preferred.
  • Experience coordinating electrical equipment vendors, suppliers, engineering teams, and contractors.
  • Understanding of electrical power systems, equipment, engineering documentation, and project delivery.
  • Strong organizational and document management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, datasheets, and vendor documentation.
  • Experience with project controls, scheduling, procurement, or document management systems is an asset.
