About the Role

JDS Energy & Mining is seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Superintendent to support field execution on active mining and construction projects. This is a site-based, camp, fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) role responsible for leading electrical construction activities across complex industrial and mining infrastructure. The Electrical Superintendent will oversee the safe and efficient execution of electrical works associated with both temporary and permanent power systems, including batch plant electrical, temporary construction power, CSA-compliant modular equipment, and a 10MW power plant supporting freeze operations. This role acts as a critical bridge between engineering, construction, contractors, and commissioning teams to ensure successful project delivery in remote environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all electrical construction and installation activities on site
  • Coordinate electrical contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and field crews
  • Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and energization of:
    • Batch plant electrical systems
    • Temporary construction power systems
    • CSA-compliant modular electrical equipment
    • 10MW power generation infrastructure supporting freeze operations
    • Site-wide temporary electrical systems and distribution
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable codes, CSA standards, and project requirements
  • Interpret and apply electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Monitor contractor performance, productivity, quality, and schedule adherence
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, commissioning, and construction teams
  • Participate in planning, work packaging, scheduling, and short-term execution planning
  • Support commissioning and startup activities, including troubleshooting and deficiency resolution
  • Conduct field inspections, safety observations, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, including daily reports, progress tracking, and turnover packages
  • Support QA/QC processes, including inspections and testing coordination
  • Coordinate lockout/tagout (LOTO), isolation planning, and energization procedures
  • Assist with material tracking, logistics coordination, and construction readiness planning
  • Ensure all work aligns with company policies, project specifications, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Electrician certification required
  • Electrical Engineering Technologist diploma or Electrical Engineering degree considered an asset
  • 10+ years of electrical construction experience in mining, heavy industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects
  • Previous experience in a Superintendent or senior supervisory role required
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Temporary construction power
    • Industrial power distribution systems
    • Medium- and low-voltage electrical systems
    • Power generation systems
    • Electrical commissioning and startup
  • Experience with batch plant electrical systems considered an asset
  • Experience with modular electrical equipment installations considered an asset
  • Familiarity with CSA standards, electrical codes, and industrial practices
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and specifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction reporting tools
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to work in a remote FIFO environment
