Job Description:
The Earthworks Superintendent is responsible for leading the execution of heavy civil and industrial earthworks activities on mining and infrastructure projects. This role oversees grading, excavation, road construction, dam foundations, and site preparation works, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
The Electrical Superintendent will be responsible for the following functions:
- Contractor Management:
- Provide daily oversight and direction to subcontracted earthworks crews.
- Monitor contractor performance against safety, schedule, and quality KPIs.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, scopes of work, and reporting requirements.
- Field Leadership:
- Supervise and coordinate crews and subcontractors engaged in excavation, grading, haulage, compaction, and site prep.
- Interpret construction drawings and specifications for earthworks and heavy civil scopes.
- Maintain daily field logs and track progress against the schedule and productivity targets.
- Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure construction activities adhere to project specifications, geotechnical reports, and compaction/testing standards.
- Support field quality control and verification activities, including density testing and slope stability checks.
- Ensure environmental best practices are followed during soil handling, drainage, and erosion control.
- Safety:
- Enforce site safety protocols and participate in toolbox talks and safety audits.
- Promote a safety-first culture among crews and contractors.
- Monitor field conditions to identify and mitigate hazards proactively.
- Equipment & Material Coordination:
- Coordinate use of heavy equipment including dozers, scrapers, haul trucks, and graders.
- Monitor earthworks quantities, materials handling, and delivery schedules.
- Interface with surveyors and quality teams for grade control and reporting.
Compensation

Qualifications
- 10+ years of earthworks and heavy civil construction experience.
- At least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role on large-scale projects.
- Strong understanding of soil types, geotechnical reports, and construction sequencing.
- Experience with civil infrastructure such as roads, pads, tailings dams, and water control structures.
- Familiarity with applicable Canadian safety and environmental regulations.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License; CSTS and WHMIS certifications preferred.
Work Schedule & Location
- Typically 12 hours per day
- On site rotational work 14x14
- Travel time to/from a project site are paid from point of hire to a maximum of 8 hours per travel day.
