Position: Senior Swisslog Developer (Java SynQ)

We are seeking a Senior Swisslog Developer with deep, hands-on experience in Swisslog SynQ and the broader Swisslog automation ecosystem to design, enhance, and support Warehouse Execution System (WES) solutions in highly automated distribution and manufacturing environments. This role is for a true Swisslog practitioner who has worked directly with SynQ, Java-based extensions, and live automation systems.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and extend Swisslog SynQ WES/WCS solutions using Java and Swisslog-supported frameworks.

• Build and customize SynQ modules to support material flow, task orchestration, routing logic, and automation workflows.

• Integrate SynQ with upstream and downstream systems (WMS, ERP, PLCs, MHE, robotics).

• Collaborate closely with controls engineers, automation architects, and customer operations teams to deliver end-to-end Swisslog solutions.

• Perform unit testing, system testing, deployments, and production support in live automated warehouse environments.

• Troubleshoot complex real-time issues involving software, controls, and material handling equipment.

• Ensure adherence to Swisslog development standards, deployment practices, and performance requirements.

Required Qualifications / What Were Looking For

• 7+ years of hands-on Swisslog development experience, specifically working with Swisslog SynQ.

• Strong Java development background with direct experience extending or customizing SynQ functionality.

• Proven experience working with Swisslog automation solutions (e.g., AS/RS, conveyor systems, shuttle systems, robotics).

• Solid understanding of warehouse automation operations, real-time execution systems, and material flow concepts.

• Experience with system integrations using REST APIs, messaging, and industrial communication protocols.

• Comfortable working in production environments with automated equipment and tight operational SLAs.

• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience integrating SynQ with leading WMS platforms (Manhattan, Blue Yonder, Körber, SAP).

• Familiarity with databases (Oracle, SQL Server) and event-driven architectures.

• Experience supporting system go-lives, upgrades, and post-implementation stabilization.

• Agile or iterative development experience in automation projects.
