Lead Consultant – WCS / WES

Role Overview

J. Goldman & Associates (JGA) is seeking a Lead Consultant – WCS/WES to serve as a subject-matter expert within highly automated distribution center environments. This role provides end-to-end functional and technical leadership across Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) and Warehouse Execution Systems (WES), supporting solution design, development, deployment, and production operations.

You will work directly with client IT and business stakeholders, automation vendors, and offshore support teams to deliver stable, scalable, and high-performing automation solutions that support evolving operational demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as SME for WCS/WES solutions in highly automated warehouse environments

• Lead system analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and steady-state support

• Handle P1/P2 production issues, including incident, problem, and change management

• Provide on-call support for critical production issues during non-business hours

• Collaborate with client IT, business teams, and automation partners on functional and technical solutions

• Support system integrations between WMS, WCS, and MHE using APIs, message queues, sockets, and host interfaces

• Troubleshoot operational and application issues and propose permanent, scalable solutions

• Design system enhancements and bug fixes aligned with business requirements

• Maintain detailed documentation including solution designs, SOPs, interface specs, troubleshooting guides, and RCA reports

• Coordinate with offshore 24×7 support teams in an onsite-offshore delivery model

• Manage daily, weekly, and monthly status reporting

• Contribute to client training, internal capability building, and business pursuit initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Must work onsite at client warehouse locations in Palmetto, GA and McDonough, GA

• 10+ years of total IT experience

• 5+ years of SME-level experience with WCS/WES platforms such as Mantissa Merlin, Dematic WCS, or KNAPP WCS

• 5+ years supporting production environments with strong experience in Incident, Problem, and Change Management

• Proven ability to manage and resolve P1/P2 production issues

• Strong understanding of warehouse automation systems including sorters, conveyors, scanners, scales, and MHE

• Experience integrating WMS, WCS, and automation hardware

• Solid knowledge of warehouse operational flows (Inbound, Outbound, Inventory Management)

• Exposure to VB.NET and/or C#

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 (64-bit) and Windows Server 2016

• Familiarity with SDLC, configuration management, and deployment methodologies

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong customer orientation

Nice to Have

• WMS domain experience

• Retail industry experience

• Exposure to Manhattan WMS (iSeries, WMOS, Active)

• Linux/Unix scripting

• Performance tuning, system optimization, and throughput analysis

• Strong SQL skills including query optimization and operational data analysis
