Our client in the Financial Services industry is looking for a Labour Lawyer to join their team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will be an admitted attorney with a B.Com in Law and/or LLB degree, with 4 to 6 years of post-qualification experience. A strong knowledge of Sharia law is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice and guidance on all aspects of labour law within the financial services sector.
- Advise the business on employment disputes, including disciplinary matters, dismissals, and other related issues.
- Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with legal standards.
- Represent the company in negotiations and hearings related to labour matters.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant labour laws, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Labour Relations Act.
- Collaborate with other departments to manage and mitigate employment-related risks.
- Stay updated on changes in labour law and ensure the companys policies remain compliant.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
- B.Com in Law and/or LLB degree.
- 4-6 years of post-qualification experience in labour law.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Sharia law.
- Experience in labour law matters in the financial services industry is preferred.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and drafting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
